How To Become a More Positive Thinker

by Anna Victoria in Lifestyle

Do you want to adopt a more positive outlook on life? Affirmations are a form of positive self-talk that are actually proven to rewire our brains to think more positively when practiced on a daily basis.

“Thought – Speech – Action” is a three step sequence that will allow positive affirmations to truly change the way you think, speak, and act.

First, think about what you wish to improve or change in your life. Second, say it out loud to yourself as a statement and as though it is happening right now in the present. For example, if you wish to be more dedicated in your health + fitness journey, say, “I am dedicated.” Lastly, act on it. Whenever you’re struggling, think back to this positive affirmation and repeat it to yourself, out loud, and then use it to motivate your actions!!

Here are a few simple rules to keep in mind:

1. Positive affirmations should be in the present tense. Use “I am” statements rather than “I am going to” or “I used to.”

2. They must be positive words or statements. No “can’t,” “don’t,” or “won’t” statements. Given a little bit of thought, you can rephrase any negative statement into a positive one.

3. They must be statements of fact or truth. No “I might” or “I will try.”

4. These statements and this process need to be repeated daily!

I’ve always believed in the power of positive thinking and it’s amazing to learn that the impact positive thinking can have on one’s life is actually backed by science(1). I have no doubt that these daily practices will make a profound impact on the way you think, speak, and live – if you let them!

Every day I want you to state a positive affirmation. This can relate to your FBG journey, your relationships, your career, your dreams, etc. You choose the focus of each statement each day, but challenge yourself to make every day is a different statement. And don’t forget to say the statement out loud to yourself! Then, put it into action.

Here are some examples of positive affirmations that can relate to many areas of your life:

💗 I am dedicated
💗 I am strong
💗 I am kind to myself
💗 I am patient
💗 I am courageous
💗 I am brave
💗 I am committed
💗 I am loved
💗 I am enough
💗 I am powerful
💗 I am worthy
💗 I am capable

Starting a new daily practice has challenges, but with a little bit of time and daily practice, you too can become a positive thinker! I’m so excited to hear how these positive affirmations impact your week and, eventually, your life!
