What Is H.I.I.T. Cardio?

by Anna Victoria in Fitness

HIIT, or High-Intensity Interval Training, is a form of cardio that will push you to your limits in the best way possible. HIIT will help you burn the most calories, fat, and preserve the most amount of muscle.

An example of HIIT is 30-60 second sprints followed by 90-120 seconds of light running, continuously alternating between the two for the stated amount of time (we suggest 20-45 minutes). The most intense part of a HIIT workout is performed at 80-90% of your maximum heart rate, and the less intense part, also called the recovery phase, is performed at 60-65% of your maximum heart rate.

These workouts are not about how many calories you burn in the moment but how many you continue to burn for the rest of the day thanks to EPOC principles.
